TVA Direct report on the LUPO Sanctuary
In the magnificent MRC de Montmagny, in the heart of the Parc des Appalaches, we had the privilege of speaking with the founder, Luigi Morabito, to learn more about this unique experience.
LUPO, a word that resonates like a wolf song in the Esperanto language, a language that has now been forgotten. This sanctuary embodies the harmonious marriage between the preservation of wolves, emblematic of Quebec wildlife, and the immersive exploration of nature, offering a multitude of outdoor activities.
At LUPO, visitors can enjoy guided tours focused on the ecology of the wolf, delving into its crucial role within its ecosystem. Myths and realities meet, enlightening the public on the true nature of this fascinating animal.
In winter, outdoor enthusiasts can snowshoe, exploring the snowy trails in the heart of this sanctuary dedicated to environmental education about wolves. We discover the vocal language of wolves from eastern Canada, an unfortunately endangered species, but here, four specimens benefit from generous space to express their nature.
Among them, the little star named Résilience, who despite her vivacity, charms everyone who meets her. Akira, with wonderful eyes, only eight months old, embodies serenity and balance.
The entire habitat of the LUPO Sanctuary was carefully designed and constructed after five years of intensive research, drawing on best practices observed in Canada and the United States. Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Park, this sanctuary offers total immersion in the fascinating and essential world of the wolf, while raising public awareness of its crucial importance in the local ecosystem.
