Guided Tour: The Eastern Wolf of Canada

The LUPO Wolf Sanctuary and the AQPOF are deeply committed to raising awareness about the pressing challenges facing wolves today. These challenges are part of a broader issue affecting all wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
In Quebec, the only officially supported interactions with wolves are hunting and trapping. Provincial legislation exclusively promotes these activities, sidelining other forms of engagement such as wildlife observation and naturalist activities. This narrow focus has serious consequences for the wolf population, as there are currently no regulatory limits on the number of wolves that can be hunted. It also negatively impacts the natural habitats they occupy, where wolves play vital ecological roles, and it restricts people who wish to observe these magnificent animals alive in the wild.
To address this gap, the LUPO Wolf Sanctuary offers this NEW GUIDED TOUR dedicated to exploring the unique role of the Eastern Wolf in our ecosystem and to advocate for its conservation. With only an estimated 236 mature Eastern Wolves remaining across Ontario and Quebec—just 170 to 195 of all ages identified in recent years—this species is in critical need of protection. Recognizing this, the Canadian federal government has listed the Eastern Wolf as "threatened" under the Species at Risk Act, marking a significant step toward its preservation.
Join us on this journey to learn more about the Eastern Wolf and the role we all play in safeguarding its future.
